Project Description

As well as providing new Sewage Treatmant Plants EnSo’s experience and skills are used to provide a range of consultancy services.

With over 40 years experience within the wastewater industry EnSo have a pedigree for offering impartial advice and consultancy on a number of aspects of biological process design, wastewater treatment plant performance and disposal. When sewage treatment systems or pumping stations are failing to meet the discharge consent of are performing outside of their design specifications EnSo can evaluate the problem in depth and offer cost effective recommendations.

Our strength lies in our experience and we are able to offer our customers professional expertise at competitive rates including the following services:

  • The undertaking of detailed site assessments on all makes and types of problematic wastewater treatment plant and providing recommendations for improvements.
  • Upgrading treatment works that are failing to meet final effluent quality requirements due to business growth or changed consent requirements.
  • Environmental monitoring of flows and loads
  • Support with discharge consent applications and regulatory organisations.

Expert Witness

An expert witness, professional witness or judicial expert is a witness, who by virtue of education, training, skill, or experience, is believed to have expertise and specialised knowledge in a particular subject beyond that of the average person, sufficient that others may officially and legally rely upon the witness’s specialised (scientific, technical or other) opinion about an evidence or fact issue within the scope of his expertise. Expert witnesses may also deliver expert evidence about facts from the domain of their expertise.

Site Surveys

It is important to undertake a comprehensive survey of all site assets on sites where there are existing treatment works which may be failing to meet with discharge requirements in order to understand the process kinetics, the process volumes and process treatment logic.

EnSo have accumulated many years experience with maintaining and operating process treatment plant produced by both the major and minor manufacturers.  Physical and visual inspection of such plant will normally reveal any shortcomings which together with sampling and analysis from the various process stages will give an overview of the treatment potential and longevity.

Flow Measurement

Flow measurement is the quantification of bulk fluid movement and can be measured in a variety of ways.

EnSo offer a comprehensive flow measurement assessment, monitoring the total daily flows on site over a set period and providing a written report with analysis and conclusions.

EnSo provide a range of electromagnetic flow meters to comply with increasing Environment Agency daily flow recording requirements. (MCERTS). Inline electromagnetic flow meters are ideal for a range of liquid flow measurement applications where high accuracy and ease of use are the key benefits of this technology. Insertion electromagnetic flow meters are a well established solution to obtaining full bore measurement accuracy from an insertion meter.

Sampling & Analysis

EnSo are able to provide all phases of data collection (field sampling, laboratory analysis, and data quality assessment) for wastewater treatment works. I.e. settled sewage samples can be compared with final effluent samples to determine the various removal efficiencies within the treatment works.

Site samples are taken to get an indicative result of the plants performance during the time of the visit(s), comprehensive samples are also be taken to NAMAS accredited laboratory to provide independent sample results and form part of a written report.

Environmental Audits

Environmental audits are intended to quantify environmental performance and environmental position. In this way they perform an analogous (similar) function to financial audits.

An environmental audit report ideally contains a statement of environmental performance and environmental position, and also aims to define what needs to be done to sustain or improve on indicators of such performance and position.
